How to Juice Without a Juicer
- Gloves: Beets have a lot of colour, so it’s best to wear neoprene gloves or you’ll have purple hands all week.
- Peel beets and carrots.
- Chop: Cut all ingredients into small chunks.
- Blend: Add ingredients to a blender with ½ cup water. Blend until smooth.
- Strain: Pour the mixture through a nut milk bag, fine-mesh strainer, or cheesecloth over a bowl. Squeeze out as much juice as possible.
- Serve: Chill or pour over ice.
What to Do with the Leftover Pulp
- Veggie fritters: Mix with egg, oats, and spices, then pan-fry.
- Smoothie fibre boost: Freeze in small bags and add to future smoothies.
- Compost: Great for the garden if you don’t want to eat it.
Should I Add Sugar or Honey?
No need—this juice is naturally sweet. However, if you prefer a sweeter taste, add a splash of orange juice or a small piece of pineapple when blending. Skip refined sugar.
If the Juice is Too Strong or Earthy
Just add water! Start with ¼ cup and adjust to your taste. Chilling the juice also mellows the flavour.
Want a smoother texture or a colder drink? Blend with ice or chill before serving. Give it a shake or stir before drinking—natural juice separates fast.
This earthy juice also goes well with unsweetened orange juice. Experiment to find your perfect blend.
